The Frigidaire FDB956RBCO is an older model dishwasher with an upper, middle and lower spray arm, prewash detergent cup, self-cleaning filter, overfill protector, glass trap and electronic control panel. With all of these features, owners can reasonably expect that the dishwasher will clean dishes well under most circumstances. But if the dishwasher is not rinsing, dishes may remain dirty and an odor might develop in the tub. This issue can often be resolved through troubleshooting.

Check the water line to the dishwasher to see that the water valve is open. The water hose should be straight and loose. You may need to disconnect the water hose and examine it for blockages. The water inlet screen in the dishwasher can be removed once the hose is disconnected and cleaned out to remove possible obstructions.

Wait until other appliances such as showers or washing machines are not in operation before running the Frigidaire dishwasher. If this does not improve the situation, check the hot water line to the dishwasher to verify that the water pressure is between 20 and 120 psi. A plumber can assist with this task if necessary.

However, if the device gets stuck in place, it can keep the water from filling the tub at all. Find the overfill protection float in the front left corner of the dishwasher bottom, and use a cloth dipped in vinegar to clean it. See that it can move up and down easily, and clean underneath the bottom of the device as well.

Frigidaire recommends a water temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit or more. Start the hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher, and raise the household water temperature at the hot water heater if necessary.

These issues will need a professional to repair or replace them.
